Dr. Ron Ritchhart, Principal Investigator for the Cultures of Thinking Project and Senior Research Associate at Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education will lead this seminar which is suitable for teachers, assistants, administrators and school leaders across grade levels and subject areas. Ron’s research focuses on understanding and developing the kinds of thoughtful learning environments that foster powerful learning for both students and teachers.

Ron currently directs the worldwide Cultures of Thinking Project aimed at supporting teachers in the creation of classrooms where thinking is valued, visible, and actively promoted. He has authored numerous books and articles as well as directed videos that explore how teachers foster understanding, nurture creativity, and make thinking visible.
During the seminar participants will focus on; ways to create thoughtful classrooms, fostering thinking opportunities through the use of thinking routines and looking for evidence of student thinking. Participants will explore such questions as:
What is a culture of thinking?
How do we lay a foundation for thinking in our classrooms?
How can educators provide rich and meaningful opportunities for thinking and learning?
How can we make thinking visible in our classrooms?
Ron is the author of several books including: Intellectual Character: What it is, Why it matters and How to get it, (2002) and Making Thinking Visible: How to promote engagement, understanding and independence for all learners, (2011).
