Who is it for
For IB Diploma Visual Arts teachers
We are hoping everyone will bring something to the table: a hands on art project, a slideshow of student work, an exhibition experience, a helpful resource, or simply your enthusiasm and interest in teaching art.
Workshop goals
Day 1 Topics:
Introductions and Overview of Visual Arts Curriculum
Identification of key issues in teaching the course
Integrating Art Terminology
Developing a coherent body of work
Addressing Curatorial practice
Day 2 Topics:
Discussing your student examples, successful and problematic
Redesigning the course to suit your objectives

Session leader
Heather McReynolds has taught IB Diploma Visual Arts for many years to teachers and students. Her passion is inspiring people to connect with the creativity within them. She has been painting and teaching in Italy for over 20 years where she has founded La Vigna Art Studios, offering workshops, courses and residencies for artists and students, including the Oxford Study Courses IB Art summer course.
Her professional experience also includes examining and writing: Visual Arts for the IB Diploma, published by Cambridge University Press in 2016, and the highly rated InThinking Visual Arts teacher resource website. Heather leads workshops for new and experienced IB Visual Arts teachers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and visits schools around the world for in school workshops with both teachers and students. She has a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins and degrees from Smith College, USA and the Accademia di Belle Arti.
